Spend the morning with Fortis Construction to learn about careers in the design-and-build industry! Go behind the scenes at the massive New East County Library construction project in Gresham and see how people from different trades and disciplines work together. Learn about cutting-edge building techniques (such as virtual reality and modeling) and materials (such as mass timber). Connect with professionals and get coaching on what you can do now to get started in your future career.
How to attend:
Step 1: Fill out the winter/spring 2025 student interest form ASAP. (Type your email address and cell number carefully so we can reach you!)
Step 2: Have your parent/guardian fill out the 2024-25 parent/guardian permission form ASAP. (Your application can’t be considered until this is done.) Students who do this early have much better luck at being accepted.
Step 3: PWA will contact you to let you know if you’re accepted or waitlisted, or if the career day is full.
Step 4: Show up and have an amazing time!
Who can attend:
High school students in the Portland metro area are encouraged and welcome to apply. When space is limited, priority is given to students from PWA partner districts (Parkrose, Reynolds, Gresham-Barlow, North Clackamas, Oregon Charter Academy, Portland Public Schools). Students from other districts are always welcome and accepted whenever space is available.
PWA Inclusion Statement: We welcome students from all racial backgrounds and ethnicities, citizenship statuses, socioeconomic backgrounds, gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, religions and abilities.
